A body has been discovered following a fire in the same house where Mary Holt and Tadgh Farrell were murdered in December 2025.Gardaí say the body “of an adult person” was discovered inside the premises after they and other emergency services attended at the scene early this morning.“An Garda Síochána is currently investigating all the circumstances of a house fire that has occurred at a domestic residence in Castleview Park, Edenderry, Co Offaly,” a spokesperson said.“A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death, which will determine the course of any Garda investigation.”The scene is currently preserved for forensic examination, the results of which will also assist in determining the course of any Garda investigation.Gardaí in Tullamore are appealing for any person with any information on this house fire to contact them.Anyone with information is asked to contact Tullamore Garda Station on 057 932 7600, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.The house, at 29, Castleview Park, Edenderry has been boarded up ever since the arson attack that claimed the lives of Tadhg Farrell (four) and his grand aunt Mary Holt (60). “An Garda Síochána can confirm that this incident has occurred at the same house where Mary Holt and Tadgh Farrell were murdered in December 2025,” the spokesperson added.“At this time the deceased discovered on the premises has not been identified and no cause of death has been determined.”The house, at 29, Castleview Park, Edenderry has been boarded up ever since the arson attack that claimed the lives of Tadhg Farrell (4) and his grand aunt Mary Holt (60).Gardaí are continuing to investigate the firebomb attack on the house which occurred on the evening of Saturday, December 6.Eariler this year, the chief suspect at the centre of the probe into who ordered the firebomb attack was arrested in prison.Read moreFirebomb victim Tadgh Farrell's father jailed for seven years over heroin haulRead moreTragic arson tot Tadgh Farrell’s grand uncle avoids jail over knife offenceThe suspect, in his late 20s, is serving a jail sentence for drug offences and his gang have been in a long-standing dispute with the mob connected to the father of Tadhg Farrell, drug dealer Aaron Holt (27).The criminal was the victim of an assault in prison on the day of the double murder.The alleged preparators of this prison assault have previously arrested by gardaí as well as being disciplined by prison authorities.Detectives have always worked on the theory that the firebomb attack was revenge for the prison assault.Tadhg’s father, Aaron Holt, who previously resided at the house in Castleview Park, Edenderry, has been described in court as the “principal supplier of illegal drugs” in Edenderry and in the surrounding area.He was jailed for seven years over a seizure of more than €32,000 worth of heroin near the Castleview Park address in Edenderry in 2024.Aaron Holt A co-accused, 26-year-old Shane O’Neill, of Killane Court, Edenderry, who also pleaded guilty to the same charge, was jailed for a year and a half.Sentencing Holt, Judge Keenan Johnson acknowledged that Holt had lost his son and aunt in the petrol bomb attack in December.The judge sympathised and said it illustrated the profound negative consequences of involvement in the drugs industry.He said while Holt had offered an apology to the court and his family for his actions over the last number of years, a probation report had questioned his remorse and commitment to change.The court heard Holt had 59 previous convictions, while O’Neill had no previous convictions.We revealed previously that Holt was transferred out of the Midlands prison in January to Wheatfield Prison in Dublin after he was caught with three mobile phones in his cell.
