Irish Coast Guard search for missing anglers off Clare coast after two fishermen fell into the sea near Doonbeg; bodies recovered in rough conditions.
Incident at Pulleen Bay
The Irish Coast Guard launched an urgent search operation this afternoon after two fishermen were reported to have fallen into the sea at the Blue Pool in Pulleen Bay, outside Doonbeg, Co. Clare.
The alarm was raised at 2:15pm when An Garda Síochána notified the Marine Rescue Coordination Sub-centre (MRSC) in Valentia of the incident.
Large-Scale Search Operation Mobilised
A coordinated multi-agency response swung into action, involving the Shannon-based Coast Guard helicopter R115, the Kilkee Coast Guard Unit, Doolin Coast Guard Unit and the Aran Island Lifeboat. Sea conditions at the scene were described as very rough, complicating the search efforts.
