Marriott’s Indian AI Push Is About Enhancing Staff, Not Replacing Them

Marriott is confident its AI developments will align with its goal to improve productivity and retention of hospitality personnel.

While AI is changing how Marriott manages its internal processes, it has not impacted the core of how the company works.

“At the end of the day, we are a business where people take care of people,” Neeraj Govil, COO for Asia Pacific Excluding China at Marriott International told Skift. AI is changing how Marriott hires, but only on the operational side, such as the recruitment processes and human capital planning. “It is not about eliminating the job, but about how we're getting the jobs done.”

The comments come as part of an interview where Marriott told Skift the various measures the company is taking in India in order to solve the widespread hospitality crunch.
