NFL Draft Day 2 winners and losers: Terrell brothers reunited; Rams continue strange draft

Day 2 of the NFL draft saw another 68 players’ dreams come true as teams used the second and third rounds to fill holes on their roster.A few more quarterbacks came off the board, as did 11 more wide receivers, 10 pass rushers and nine tight ends. Here’s a look at some of the biggest winners and losers from the second and third rounds of the draft.WinnersSteve Spagnuolo The Kansas City Chiefs’ defensive coordinator had to leave team headquarters with a big smile on his face. Chiefs general manager Brett Veach used Kansas City’s first three picks to upgrade the defense, adding a defensive back, interior lineman and edge rusher. Age and free-agent departures had left the Chiefs in a diminished state. But the Chiefs have now received an infusion of young talent, which should help position the unit for a rebound.Terrell brothersThe Falcons had to wait 48 picks for their first selection, and when they did, they took Clemson cornerback Avieon Terrell. The Falcons will pair the rookie with his older brother, six-year veteran A.J. Terrell, to give their defense a versatile and aggressive cornerback tandem.Lamar JacksonThe Ravens quarterback has long needed a big-target perimeter threat to complement Zay Flowers and tight end Mark Andrews, and the Ravens appear to have landed a steal in USC wideout Ja’Kobi Lane. The 6-foot-4, 200-pounder boasts speed, elite length, a wide catch radius and field-stretching ability.Philadelphia EaglesHowie Roseman is a known wheeler-and-dealer, and he didn’t stray from that approach Friday night. A day after trading up to snatch receiver Makai Lemon, he took tight end Eli Stowers in the second round to add another big target. He also drafted offensive tackle Markel Bell in the third round to groom for the future and added a Pro Bowl linebacker in Jonathan Greenard via trade with the Minnesota Vikings.Pittsburgh SteelersGeneral manager Omar Khan had a busy night. In the second round, he addressed a need for a potent pass-catching playmaker in Alabama wideout Germie Bernard. He then landed a potential understudy to Aaron Rodgers in Penn State’s Drew Allar. Later in the third round, the Steelers selected Daylen Everette to add some youth to their secondary, and with their final third-round pick, the Steelers landed a much-needed, powerful run blocker in guard/tackle Gennings Dunker. Yet, the Rams drafted Max Klare in the second round even though they already have a crowded tight end room. Third-rounder Keagen Trost could help improve the depth of the offensive line, but the Rams really could use another impact wide receiver given Davante Adams’ age and Puka Nacua’s off-field problems.Jacoby Brissett The veteran is penciled in as the starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, but the selection of Carson Beck makes things very intriguing. Beck seems to have improved on a number of weaknesses during the 2025 season at Miami, and between The U and his time in Georgia, he has taken a lot of reps and has experience playing in multiple systems. If he can grasp the playbook, he may have a chance to compete for the starting job.Garrett NussmeierLSU’s quarterback entered the draft as a Day 2 projection, but he went undrafted in both the second and third rounds, as contemporaries like Beck and Allar found homes in Arizona and Pittsburgh, respectively.Jermod McCoyThe Tennessee cornerback’s slide continued another two rounds on Friday. Originally a prospect with a first-round grade, McCoy has seen teams pass on him despite a blazing 40-yard dash time. Many teams have concerns over McCoy’s surgically repaired right knee and thus have deemed the risk associated with drafting him too great in the first three rounds.
