On April 22, law enforcement in Carroll County, Missouri responded to a homicide at a Carrollton residence around 10:30 p.m., where they found the deceased victim—whom police identified as Dakota’s grandparent—as well as Dakota and his other grandparent.
The other grandparent told police that Dakota had been sitting on a separate couch near the victim for approximately 30 minutes when—without warning—he shot her in the head.
The grandparent further claimed that Dakota and the victim had been in a prior disagreement about him not helping with household chores.
A press release from the Missouri State Highway Patrol identified the victim as female.
An obituary for 75-year-old Gayle R. Wilson said she will be remembered for her creativity and kindness and lists Dakota and West among her seven grandchildren.
Dakota was arrested and a holster was located on his body, per the probable cause statement. He was booked into the Caldwell County Jail, according to the press release, where he was held on a no-bond warrant.
Authorities wrote in the probable cause statement that Dakota is a danger to the community.
The arrest occurred the night before West filmed the season 10 reunion of the Bravo series. Reps for the reality star did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Dakota will appear in court for a bond hearing on May 6.
