A couple were wrongly sent a £90 bus lane fine after a council camera mistook the word “KNITTER” on a woman’s T-shirt for their personalised number plate. David and Paula Knight, from Surrey, said they had never been near the bus lane in Bath where the fine was issued. The couple’s actual plate reads KN19TER, a nod to David’s nickname “Knighter,” but the evidence photo showed a woman walking in the bus lane wearing the word “KNITTER” across her shirt. The council later cancelled the fine after the mistake was pointed out.
