According to a Facebook post by Katherine Mcmorrow, posted shortly after 10pm, an intruder broke into the house, pursued the teenager upstairs, dragged her into the bathroom, and shut the door before allegedly attacking her.

The girl’s 13-year-old brother is credited with intervening heroically. Mcmorrow wrote that he “ran up the stairs, kicked in the bathroom door and dragged him out.” The victim then fled screaming to a neighbour’s house, alerting the community. Neighbours assisted, and Gardaí were called to the scene.
