Iran launches attacks across Middle East in response to US and Israel strikes | BBC News

The US and Israel have today launched “major combat operations” against Iran, according to US President Donald Trump, with “several senior figures” from the Iran regime having been “eliminated” according to Israel officials.

Israeli Prime Benjamin Netanyahu has said that there are “growing signs” that amongst the dead are Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The attacks, which come after weeks of negotiations over Iran’s nuclear programme, have resulted in apparent Iranian strikes in response across the Middle East, with countries such as the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait – places with US military bases, or that are allied to the US – being targeted.
