Home from the Middle East, but at what cost?

The prime minister has described the operation to rescue stranded Britons in the Middle East as "many times bigger" than the evacuation from Afghanistan.

Keir Starmer also said the UK government's repatriation flights from the Middle East amid the US's war with Iran as "one of the biggest operations of its kind".

The first government-chartered flight carrying Britons left Oman on Thursday, hours later than expected, due to what the Foreign Office confirmed to be "technical issues".

But, the chaos caused by the closure of airspace across the Middle East has led to skyrocketing prices for some who are trying to re-book flights.

Experts say a growing number of travelers face a price shock, with some airlines accused of being "unfair".
