Donald Trump says the UK “should have acted a lot faster” in allowing the US to use British bases to strike Iranian missile sites targeting the Strait of Hormuz.
Sir Keir Starmer said earlier the US could use the bases for the "collective self-defence" of the region.
He had initially refused to back the US-Israeli operation against Iran - and had been criticised several times by the US president for his position.
Mr Trump's remarks to reporters about the UK followed his comments earlier that NATO were "cowards" for refusing to support his military plans to try and open the Strait of Hormuz.
