Iran war halts Iraq shipments: Iraq's basra port sees sharp decline in trade

The closure of the Strait of Hormuz has cut oil exports by 80% and sharply reduced imports of essential goods. This disruption comes as a major new port project linking Basra to Turkey begins operations, but trade is currently stalled, halting its expected role as a key transit route between Asia and Europe.
