Kemi Badenoch has defended her record as leader of the Conservatives and declared the attack in Golders Green a "national emergency".

She told The Cathy Newman Show: "I was in Golders Green just a couple of hours ago, and I cannot tell you how palpable the fear that people there have. They are scared, people saying that being visibly Jewish now is impossible.

"They're advising their family and their children, their friends, to not look Jewish so they don't get attacked. It was also quite striking that they do believe that they have to protect themselves."
