Decision on future of famed Dublin pub site due within weeks

A decision on the future of the former Lamb Doyles pub site in Sandyford is imminent following a huge step in the planning process. The site on Blackglen Road, which has laid vacant for years, has had a planning application in place to build 14 three-storey homes on it since April 2024. After additional information on the plans was submitted, a final decision on the planning application is expected by March 24. If approved, there will be 14 homes built on the land. That will include five three-bed and nine four-bed homes built within eight town houses and six semi-detached houses. But the plans have been met by resistance from local residents. There have been concerns surrounding the impact its height will have on the landscape, how surface water will be dealt with and the removal of the former pub building, which operated from 1832, to facilitate the development. Further information on the proposed development was requested by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown planners. They asked to address concerns surrounding the impact the development would make on the landscape, and changes to the design and height. CGI of how the proposed development would look Details were also requested on the drainage on the site and how a lack of open space would be addressed. In its submission of the additional information, the applicant said: "We note to the Planning Authority that the scheme presented in this stage does not include any significant change to the scheme as originally lodged with the Planning Authority in April 2024." The site was put up for sale by developer Oakmount, owned by Paddy McKillen Jr, last year with a price tag of €2.75million. The same developer submitted the planning application which is waiting for a decision.
