Man arrested after victim found unresponsive in serious Dublin assault
A man has been hospitalised after a serious assault in Dublin today. The victim, aged in his 60s, was attacked at a home on Basin Street, Dublin 8. Gardai were alerted after he was found unresponsive in a flat at the Old Convent at 12 noon today. He was removed from the scene by ambulance and is currently receiving treatment at Beaumont Hospital. His condition is understood to be serious. A Garda spokesperson said: "A man in his 20s was subsequently arrested in connection with this incident and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda Station in the Dublin Region. "The scene has been forensically examined and remains preserved. Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses or individuals with information to contact the incident room at Kilmainham Garda Station at 01 666 9700 or the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111."
