Lottie and Bonnie Ryan open up on 'horrific' night they were spiked at same time
Lottie and Bonnie Ryan have shared their harrowing experience of being spiked simultaneously. The siblings were enjoying a night out at a nightclub with friends and colleagues when their drinks were tampered with. They recall how their bodies began to "turn to mush" and they found themselves clinging to the walls for support. Discussing the frightening ordeal on their podcast No One Else Will Listen, they recounted how terrifying the incident was. Lottie explained: "Bonnie and I were on a night out with work colleagues. We both worked at the same place at one point. We went out with all our friends to a Dublin city centre nightclub." "We, as sisters, love to be on the dance floor. That's just what we go out to do. We love dancing and having lots of fun. We were there with our girlfriends, there were guys there as well and we went to the dance floor with our drinks. We very, very stupidly put our drinks down and we were dancing. "The drinks were beside us, but none the less, the drinks were down and not in our hands. When we took our drinks back up and had a few sips. I can't emphasise how quickly it happened. "It was terrifying. Thankfully, we knew pretty quickly that something wasn't right. We got out. By the time we had gotten out of the club to go outside to try to get a taxi to go back home, because we knew something was happening to us, we were both propping ourselves up on the walls." Bonnie added: "It's actually giving me PTSD." Lottie and Bonnie shared a horrifying experience of being spiked, as they recounted the events of that night, reports RSVP Live. "Our legs were going from under us," Lottie said, highlighting how early into the evening the ordeal began despite not consuming much alcohol. "This was not that far into the night. We hadn't had very much to drink." Highlighting the abnormal effects they experienced, she added: "Basically, the way we were wasn't warranted by the alcohol alone." Bonnie added: "We just knew immediately that we had been spiked, because it happened to both of us at the exact same time. It wasn't like, 'I'm drunk'. It was a feeling that I never felt in my life. I've never done any drugs in my life, so I know what I feel like when I'm drunk. This was something that I had never felt in my whole life." Describing the terrifying loss of control, she continued: "It was like the ground was mush and I was floating away. Remember we were trying to hold on to the wall?" asking her sister. "Our legs were just like spaghetti. "I was looking at you like, 'Lottie, what's happening?' I'm out of control of my body. My mind was okay, but my body became mush. It was the scariest thing that has ever happened to me." Lottie remembered walking up the next day and finding loads of calls and texts from friends asking what happened to them. She expressed gratitude for the thoughtful taxi driver who helped them. She said: "Some taxi man knew that there was something not right." She then confessed her confusion over returning home safely: "To be honest with you, I don't even know how I got the address out to get home. It was really quick how badly it went downhill." The frightening experience was evident the morning after, as Lottie noted, "We woke up the next day and our phones were full of messages and calls from people wondering where we were. We knew what had happened. It was horrific. It was absolutely horrific. We made the mistake of putting our drinks down and I have never in my life taken my hand off my drink ever again. "It is sad that we're living in a time that you even have to think about that," Bonnie said. "Obviously, we're not blaming ourselves, it should have never happened regardless."
