Laneway's 'beautiful' transformation with new plants, benches, and artwork
A Dublin laneway has been transformed into a "beautiful and meaningful space" with new plants, benches, and artwork. Pearse Lane in Sallynoggin - a series of long laneways running between Sallyglen Road and Rochestown Avenue - has been given a fresh coat of paint by the local community to make it a "more playful, people-centred place". Dun Laoughaire-Rathdown County Council launched the new laneway as part of the Love Our Laneways project this week. The redevelopment includes new areas for people to spend time, play areas for children, age friendly seating, traffic calming, accessible crossings, new pollinator friendly planting, new artwork and more. And Fine Gael Councillor Jim O'Leary - who is the Council's Cathaoirleach - said that the improvements now provide the community with "a place that enhances local connectivity and brings us together".

"This project set out to improve active travel facilities in the heart of our well-established community, but it has achieved so much more," said Cllr O'Leary. "What was once a series of concrete and tarmac through-routes is now a bio-diverse green corridor, alive with native and pollinator-friendly trees and plants. "It’s a space that offers seating, play opportunities, and a chance for social interaction - a place that enhances local connectivity and brings us together."
