BBC's The Capture is returning for series three with Irish star in leading role

The BBC has just dropped the news that The Capture, which last graced our screens two years ago, is set for a thrilling third series comeback with an "electrifying" lineup of talent. After winning over audiences, the show, penned by BAFTA Award-winning creator Ben Chanan, has been given the thumbs up for a third run, with cameras already rolling on the new episodes. Holliday Grainger is back to lead as DI Rachel Carey, and joining her is Killian Scott, known for his roles in Strike, Kaos, and Dublin Murders, who's set to take on a crucial character. The roster of returning stars features Indira Varma as the face of BBC Newsnight, Khadija Khan, Ben Miles playing Danny Hart, Lia Williams as Gemma Garland, Ginny Holder in the role of DI Nadia Latif, Ron Perlman as CIA operative Frank Napier, Nigel Lindsay as DSI Tom Kendricks, Tessa Wong as DC Chloe Tan, and Daisy Waterstone portraying Abigail Carey. In 2019, The Capture launched its first ever series with Holliday Grainger leading the investigation into Homicide and Serious Crime as DI Rachel Carey. A standout case introduced viewers to a soldier named Shaun, who was accused of war crimes but later cleared of charges in Afghanistan. Killian Scott will now be joining the cast in a key role The case centred on an alleged war criminal, Shaun, portrayed by Callum Turner, who is acquitted of offences in Afghanistan. Despite his efforts to start a new life in the UK, Shaun becomes embroiled in a crime after his defence barrister mysteriously vanishes. Rachel discovers various pieces of tech-based evidence and CCTV footage have been tampered with, leaving Shaun questioning what's real and what's not. The new series places terror-related crimes at the forefront, with Rachel finding herself in an "increasingly violent situation with few allies to trust". It promises to be a unique series as she gets drawn into a burgeoning geopolitical crisis that permeates the British political establishment. On reprising her role, Holliday Grainger commented: "I'm thrilled to be joining The Capture team once more for series three.
