Dublin named one of the 'best cities in the world' for its food
Dublin has been hailed as one of the top 10 capital cities globally, and it's all down to its culinary delights. Food isn't just a vital necessity for survival, but it also serves as a cultural language. Cities worldwide offer unique dining experiences that incorporate local ingredients and time-honoured traditions. Eating out at restaurants, cafes, bistros, and other foodie hotspots is a favourite social pastime. It's ideal for first dates, catching up with mates, celebrating special occasions, and more. For some holiday-goers, the local grub is a key factor when planning a trip. Studies show one in three people would travel to new places just to sample the local cuisine. The culinary tourism market, worth billions of dollars, is forecasted to grow by nearly a fifth (19%) by 2032. This suggests tasting new cuisines is a significant part of travelling, reports the Express. With plenty of iconic places well worth a visit, which destinations stand out, JR Pass, a rail company specialising in Japanese exploration, carried out some research with the our Fair City ranking high on the list. To determine the best capital cities for food lovers, JR Pass evaluated various factors. These included the number of 5-star restaurants, culinary tourist attractions, and the quantity of Michelin Guide restaurants. While Paris claimed the top spot with an overall score of 93.1 out of 100, Dublin secured a respectable eighth place on the list. Dublin is not just about the craic; it's got a buzzing nightlife and cultural vibe with loads of top-notch bars, clubs, and pubs attracting locals and visitors alike. Plus, there's no shortage of spots celebrating our rich musical and literary history.
