Brendan Courtney opens up on 'massive outpouring of love' after Dublin assault

Brendan Courtney has opened up on the "massive outpouring of love" he received since he was assaulted in Dublin over a month ago. The RTE star was kicked in the head repeatedly and punched to the ground during harrowing incident near his Dublin home. After attending A&E, it was confirmed he sustained an orbital floor fracture. Appearing on the Six O’clock show on Tuesday alongside his Lennon Courtney co-founder Sonya Lennon, the 'Keys to my Life' presenter described “beautiful kindness” he has experienced since the incident. “I have had hundreds of cards," he said. "Like, the fact that people went to a shop, bought a card “I’ve had 14 masses said for me, thank you so much. Loads of candles lit. “Loads of people had masses said for me, and had cards sent, (from people who) were so appalled. It was a massive outpouring of love.” Brendan told viewers he had even received a letter from one woman in particular who addressed it to: ‘Brendan Courtney, RTÉ/ Designer, Wicklow, County Wicklow.’ After sharing of how the letter made it to his house, the sweet story was shared online by Sarah Jessica Parker. Brendan said: “I did squeal, and I was in a big store in London doing a bit of shopping or whatever I was doing in between meetings and I did nearly spontaneously combust. But I’m okay.” Join our Dublin Live breaking news service on WhatsApp. Click this link to receive your daily dose of Dublin Live content.
