BYD Yangwang teases new SUV U8L for Shanghai auto show
Yangwang shared two images of the U8L and hinted that the new model will be longer than the U8.
The U8 is Yangwang's first model and has a starting price of RMB 1,098,000 yuan.

Yangwang, the ultra-luxury sub-brand of (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY), has previewed a new model based on its first car, the U8 off-road SUV (sport utility vehicle), ramping up its quest to explore the luxury car market.
Yangwang shared one image each of the U8L on Weibo last night and today, saying that the model will be unveiled at the 2025 Shanghai auto show.
This is the first time the U8L has been mentioned. Yangwang didn't share any more information about it, but hinted that the model will be bigger than the regular U8.
The upcoming Shanghai auto show will be held from April 23 to May 2, and Yangwang's booth is at 8A02 in Hall 8.1H.
Yangwang is BYD's ultra-luxury brand launched on January 5, 2023, to target a market with prices in the RMB 1 million ($137,050) class.
The U8, Yangwang's first model, was launched on September 20, 2023, with a starting price of RMB 1,098,000 yuan.
The SUV measures 5,319 mm in length, 2,050 mm in width and 1,930 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,050 mm.
Yangwang's latest hint implies that the U8L is expected to be longer than the U8. In the Chinese market, adding the "L" to the end of a model's name usually means a longer wheelbase variant.
Yangwang launched the U9 on February 25, 2024, with a starting price of RMB 1.68 million for the two-seat electric supercar.
On March 27 this year, the brand launched its third model, the U7 electric sedan, with a starting price of RMB 628,000 yuan.
Yangwang's current models are based on its exclusive e4 technology and are powered by four electric motors with over 1,000 horsepower.
The brand delivered 133 vehicles in March, bringing first-quarter deliveries to 524, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
Yangwang's cumulative deliveries through the end of March stood at 9,979 units.

"This is another leap in the technology, I mean, next level leap," Newsom said after experiencing the tank turn feature of the Yangwang U8 in Shenzhen.
