13 Star Wars TV Shows I'm Desperate To See Now Andor Has Raised The Bar So High

Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Andor season 2Following the success of Andor, I have some big hopes for future Star Wars shows in the future. Without a doubt, both seasons of Andor set the bar extremely high for Star Wars television, having shown the full potential of what Star Wars shows can be, especially those that are more grounded. With that in mind, I have been thinking about what kind of shows Lucasfilm could produce in the future that would have the best chance of capturing similar levels of success, at least in terms of theme and tone. Currently, there are only three Star Wars shows set to release in the near future: the animated anthology Star Wars: Visions season 3 in 2025, Maul: Shadow Lord in 2026, and Ahsoka season 2, which is presumably releasing next year as well. Ahsoka season 2 is also the only known live-action series in the works from Lucasfilm that's currently in production. Subsequently, here are some Star Wars series and spin-off ideas for live-action shows I think would be perfect now that Andor is done. 13 Dameron Poe's Parents and Early Life While Captain Poe Dameron was one of the most popular characters in the sequels, there's quite a bit of his Star Wars history that remains unknown. That said, what we do know could be the perfect foundation for a similarly grounded Star Wars show. While half of the series could be about Poe's parents, Kes Dameron and Shara Bey, who were heroes who fought in the Rebellion, the other half could be about a younger Poe spending his early years as a spice runner on Kijimi before joining the Resistance. 12 Guardians of the Whills Chirrut Îmwe and Baze Malbus While they didn't make appearances in Andor as some might have hoped, it would be fantastic to see a series about Rogue One's Chirrut Îmwe and Baze Malbus, the former Guardians of the Whills who joined the Rebellion and helped deliver the Death Star plans to the Alliance. Having been Guardians of the kyber temple in the holy Jedha City, one can imagine Chirrut and Baze have a fascinating Star Wars history, some of which was revealed in a canonical novel. That said, there's bound to be more of their story that could be told on-screen. 11 Organa Bail and Leia Many Star Wars fans were sad to see that actor Jimmy Smits was unavailable to reprise his role as Senator Bail Organa in Andor season 2. However, Benjamin Bratt undoubtedly did a wonderful job filling in as the classic Rebel Alliance leader. Following such an in-depth and dynamic exploration into Mon Mothma's final years in the Imperial Senate before fleeing Coruscant, it would be very cool to see Organa getting a similar treatment with his own series. Related 20 Ways Rogue One Has Totally Changed Now That I've Re-Watched It After Andor Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was designed as a standalone film, but thanks to Andor, fans can revisit the movie with an entirely new perspective. A theoretical Organa series could also include Princess Leia, Bail's adopted daughter. After all, Leia canonically joined the Imperial Senate when she was only 16. Keeping that in mind, it's worth pointing out that Obi-Wan Kenobi's Young Leia actress Vivian Blair is only a few years away from being the same age. 10 Star Wars: Jedha Saw Gerrera's Partisans (And More) A show focused on Jedha right before the events of Rogue One would be fascinating. While Saw Gerrera got his moments in the spotlight during Andor, there's so much more room for his story to continue, especially if he were to lead his own series covering the Partisans' activities on Jedha. Likewise, perhaps a Jedha series could incorporate Chirrut and Baze as well. 9 Star Wars: Alliance A Spin-off Starring Andor's Surviving Characters The end of Andor season 2 saw multiple heroes of the Rebel Alliance surviving with unknown fates. This includes Vel, Wilmon, Kleya, and Bix. Cassian and Bix's surprise child revealed at the very end of Andor season 2 should be included as well. While it can be assumed that Andor's survivors would continue working with the Alliance on into the original trilogy, a spin-off starring these characters set between the OT movies would be amazing. 8 Fulcrum A Series About Rebel Spies "Fulcrum" was the codename first used by Ahsoka Tano and later used by Rebel Alliance spies and intelligence operatives like Cassian Andor and Rebels' ISB Agent Kallus. To that end, a Fulcrum series focusing on galactic espionage could be really cool. One could easily see a future where maintaining the Fulcrum network and their secret communications could become a perfect role for Kelya, Luthen's assistant who made her way to Yavin at the end of Andor season 2. 7 Rangers of the New Republic Reviving The Canceled Series Rangers of the New Republic was canceled following Disney's firing of actress Gina Carano. However, I can't help but feel as though the series would still have great potential if it were to be revived in some form. After all, Captain Carson Teva of the Adelphi Rangers has become a fan-favorite character with every new Star Wars appearance, and the group of New Republic pilots also includes Rebels' Zeb Orrellios. 6 Star Wars: Underworld Bringing Back George Lucas' Original Vision For Star Wars Television Custom Image by Kevin Erdmann In the years just before George Lucas sold Lucasfilm to Disney, the Star Wars creator got very close to making Star Wars: Underworld a reality. This project would have been the first-ever live-action Star Wars show, one that was meant to explore the more grounded side of the Star Wars galaxy much like Andor has. Seeing how nearly 60 Lucas-approved scripts were written before Star Wars: Underworld was canceled, reviving the project in some way does seem like an easy win for Lucasfilm. 5 Star Wars: Bounty Hunters A Complicated Profession In a similar vein, a Star Wars series focused on the original trilogy's classic bounty hunters could have some very strong potential. Conversely, recent New Republic Era shows have teased the gradual decline of the Bounty Hunters' Guild, suggesting that the time is ripe for something new to take its place. Either way, a "Bounty Hunters" series could be a logical future show for Lucasfilm to put into development. 4 Mothma Genevieve O'Reilly Deserves Her Own Show Just over 40 years since she first debuted in Return of the Jedi, Mon Mothma finally got the spotlight she's always deserved, thanks to Andor and actress Genevieve O'Reilly. That said, there's so much more of her story that could and should be told. An easy proposal would be to have a Mon Mothma-focused series during the New Republic Era, showing the challenges the new government and Mon faced once the Galactic Civil War was won, working to restore freedom and democracy as the New Republic's Chancellor.
