Tributes flow for 'warm, generous and loving' Dublin mum-of-four killed in crash
Tributes have poured in for a "warm, generous, and loving" mum-of-four who was killed in a road traffic collision in Meath last week. Elizabeth 'Liz' McGuinness, who is originally from Glenageary in Dublin but had been living in Drogheda in Louth for a number of years, died in the crash involving a car and a truck which occurred at Platin Terrace shortly after 10.30am on Thursday. Ms McGuinness, who was driving the car, was pronounced dead at the scene. A death notice posted on RIP.ie remembered the 71-year-old Dublin native as the "loving mum to Declan, Colm, Fiona and Sinéad and wonderful grandmother to Sean, Carl, Isabella, Maizie, Charlie, Aria, Miles, Xavier and Chloe, extended family, relatives and wide circle of friends." Tributes have poured in for the former supermarket employee following her shock death, with friends remembering her as "an absolute genuine lady who will be greatly missed", Irish Mirror reports. A family friend said: "To Declan, Fiona, Colm and Sinead. My deepest sympathies and sincerest condolences on the loss of your beautiful Mam. Sending love and keeping you all in my thoughts at this heartbreaking time. I have so many lovely memories of your Mam, always a Lady and the most elegant person in every room. May she rest in peace." Another mourner added: "Deepest condolences to Fiona, Sinead, Colm and Declan, to Ken and Damien, family partners and all Liz's beautiful grandchildren. I am so sorry for your huge loss. It was always a pleasure meeting Liz. She was the type of lady that after chatting with her, you came away all the better for it. I have a feeling she made most people feel like that. An absolute genuine lady who will be greatly missed. Rest in peace beautiful Liz." A third person said: "Our deepest sympathies and sincere condolences to Declan, Fiona, Colm and Sinéad, for your profound loss. Liz was a wonderfully warm, generous, funny, and always loving presence, who will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace." A fourth mourner added: "Sending love and my deepest condolences to Colm, Declan, Sinead, Fiona and all the family at this extremely sad time. I have nothing but happy memories of your wonderful mam, always so elegant with a heart full of love. Thinking of you all." While a close pal said: "So sorry to hear of the passing of Auntie Liz. The most warm, wonderful and lovely person anyone could ever meet. So many great memories of happy holidays in Drogheda from years past. She was a real gem. RIP Liz. Karen, Paul, Sean, Conor and Caoimhe." A Funeral Mass was held for Ms McGuinness on Tuesday morning in St Augustine's Church on Shop Street, Drogheda, with mourners packing out the church to bid a final farewell to the the much-loved grandmother-of-nine.
