In addition to domestic recognition, Glasgow four-piece Mercy Girl have also garnered healthy interest overseas, write Olaf Furniss and Derick Mackinnon

In little over a year Mercy Girl have made a significant impact, and last weekend they were named best newcomer act at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards (SAMAs). Their debut release, Heaven, was crowned track of the week on BBC Introducing Scotland, while 6 Music followed suit with the more recent single, No Sound. Between them, the two songs have clocked up almost a million streams.

The Glasgow-based four-piece, who describe their sound as a blend of darkwave, EBM and electro pop, have a collaborative approach to their work, writing, recording and producing their songs together.

In addition to domestic recognition, Mercy Girl have also garnered healthy interest overseas, with their music making it into DJ sets in clubs from Berlin to San Francisco. This is also reflected in their streaming profile, with Mexico City, London, LA, Warsaw and Berlin, accounting for the most listeners on Spotify.

In 2026 the band embark on an extensive spring tour, taking in the UK, Netherlands, Austria, Germany and Poland, which ends with a homecoming show at Glasgow’s 1990 venue on 24 April. For updates and news of the next release, visit www.linktr.ee/mercygirl
