Nintendo Officially Drops FREE GameCube Classic For Switch 2 Gamers

Ask any Nintendo Switch 2 gamer what their biggest problem with the console is at this point in its lifespan, and most will probably tell you the lineup of GameCube games available via the Switch Online service just isn't good enough.

We're now six months into the Nintendo Switch 2 generation, and one of the most exciting promises of the console for many was the inclusion of Nintendo GameCube games. After a pretty barren run, a new game has finally been added, and it's a big one.

Wario World Is Available Now For Nintendo Switch 2 Wah are you waiting for? Wario World

There's been growing unrest among Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Over the last six months, the only GameCube games available via Switch Online have been:

The Legend Of Zelda: Wind Waker Soulcalibur 2 F-Zero GX Super Mario Strikers Luigi's Mansion Chibi-Robo!

These are all great games, don't get me wrong, but when the Switch 2 was announced we were also promised:

Super Mario Sunshine Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness Pokemon Colosseum

I'm pretty sure we all thought we might have gotten a few more of these by the end of the year, but it was not to be. Fortunately, our old pal Wario has stepped in to give us a nice end-of-year treat. The underrated 2003 platformer is available right now via your library of Switch 2 GameCube games. All you have to do is navigate to the Nintendo GameCube Classics app (do we call it an app? I guess so) and you'll be prompted to update the software. After that, you should find Wario World in your library.

Wario Ware Is A Classic You really don't want to miss this one

If you've never played Wario World, let me assure you that it's absolutely brilliant. It's a relatively short 3D platformer in which Wario basically just beats the crap out of everything he can find in an attempt to reclaim as many jewels and as much gold as he can carry. It's brilliantly colorful cartoon violence with huge bosses, fun puzzles, and plenty of secrets. It got mixed reviews back in the day, but it totally stands up as a dumb, fun diversion.

If you've got a Nintendo Switch 2 and an Online subscription, I would strongly urge you to spend this weekend with Wario World. Throwing punches and making fat stacks of coin is basically what Christmas is all about, after all, isn't it?
