While the catastrophe of the plane hijacking was unfolding somewhere over the Mediterranean, the control tower at Hamburg Airport in Germany also noticed that something was wrong. One of the air traffic controllers had seen that flight MA 808 had unexpectedly changed its route. His attempts to contact the pilots, however, were unsuccessful.Air Traffic Controller: “Frau Krantz! We have a discrepancy here. MEA flight 808 has deviated from its course and I can't get in touch.”Alarmed, Petra put her coffee cup aside and quickly checked the flight lists on a computer.Petra: “Keep trying and increase the frequency.”She quickly and confidently checked the flight list files, which listed over 100 flights for today, until she found the right one. She muttered quietly to herself.Petra: “Damn! Flight 808 is the flight to Cairo for which the Federal Police, the Interior Ministry, and the Foreign Ministry had requested the extradition of this insidious assassin. This can't be a coincidence.”The german Flight Operations Officer suspected that Steffi and her crew were in danger, but didn't know what kind. Nervously, she repeatedly tapped her foot, which she had previously only placed on the heel of her shoe.Petra: “Kurt! Connect me to the cockpit, no matter what! Attenuate the radio frequencies to the other flights within a 200-kilometer radius a bit so you can amplify the frequency to Flight 808. In case, although I hope not, no one there intentionally answers, try the cabin intercom system.”Air Traffic Controller Kurt: “Yes, Frau Krantz!”Petra: “Felix! Two of the three requests for authorization regarding our special cargo for Flight 808 came from her. She seems to have dual authority after the incident with now-former Minister Karrenknecht.”Air Traffic Controller Felix: “Will be done immediately, Frau Krantz.”Petra: “Very good! And then you contact Constanze Hildebrandt from our airport police and....”At that very moment, a call came in to Petra's work cell phone, which the 44-year-old blonde transferred with a quick press of a button on her headset.Petra: “Airport Tower! Flight Operations Officer Petra Krantz!”As fate sometimes has it, it wasn't Constanze Hildebrandt but someone else from the Federal Police.Friederike: “Frau Krantz, this is Federal Police Officer Friederike Wolff, deputy to Frau Jäger and Frau Klingemann. We have a problem!”Petra: “Tell me something I don't know yet.”
