As such, alongside the reveal of the One concept, DarkSky also developed a set of “foundational recommendations for vehicle headlights” that are meant to act as guidelines, both for policymakers and carmakers throughout the industry.
Though some suggestions — like capping brightness and making lighting smarter — are sure to strike a chord with most motorists, others are less obvious.

Through intentional choices, like warmer bulb tones, integrated light-pollution mitigation and expanded research, DarkSky believes that we can work to improve our vehicles’ relationship with nocturnal wildlife and the nighttime environment.
DarkSky International may have designed the DarkSky One as a conversation starter, but that doesn’t mean that production is completely off the table. Quite the contrary, as CEO Ruskin Healey told Carbuzz in an interview, “if we can carry this forward, turn this into an actual concept car, actual production car, we’ll build this.”
Put another way, provided that there’s a market for something as innovative as the DarkSky One, the company could actually turn the concept into a reality. Until then, let’s hope that the rest of the industry can embrace the idea that a darker future could actually be in our best interests.
