Residents warned to 'act now' as 11 new flood warnings issued across Scotland

The Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) released 11 new flood warnings across three areas on Saturday morning.

Flood alerts, warning that flooding is possible, were published on the agency’s website informing residents in areas of Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City, Orkney, Tayside and Dundee and Angus between 10:30am and 11:10am.

Flood warnings, which indicate that flooding is expected imminently, have now been raised in Stonehaven (Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City), as well as Finavon and Tannadice and Kinnaird/Bridge of Dun (Dundee and Angus).

Additional warnings are in place at Churchill Barriers (Orkney), Innerpeffray to Bridge of Earn, Upper Tay, Logierait to Jubilee Bridge, Bridge to Ruthven to Leitfie, Aberbothrie, The River Isla at Coupar Angus and Kemphill to Bridge of Isla (Tayside).

Posting an update on X/Twitter, SEPA said: “Regional flood alerts and local flood warning remain in place for Tayside, Angus and Aberdeenshire. Although improving in some areas, spells of heavy rain will continue across northeast and central Scotland today and into Sunday.

“Combined with already high river levels and saturated ground, this means minor flooding to low lying land, isolated properties and roads and continued disruption to travel is possible.”

SEPA has also posted a flood forecast for the next three days with Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City, Dundee and Angus, Tayside being at risk of flooding throughout the weekend before returning to normal on Monday.

Flooding can be reported to SEPA via their website. A live flood map and guidance on preparing for a flood can also be found on the website.
