It's been a week since we've been treated to the grand reveal of WWE 2K26 and all the various new match types, gameplay improvements, and presentation additions this upcoming entry in WWE and 2K's long-running wrestling video game series will provide.
However, we only got a sneak peek at its gameplay during the 2026 Royal Rumble. Fortunately, 2K and WWE have recently provided the fans with a more in-depth gaming trailer covering these aspects narrated by one of WWE's former wrestlers-turned-commentators, Wade Barrett.
First up is a more in-depth look at its new match types: Inferno Matches, Three Stages of Hell, I Quit Matches, and Dumpster Matches.

The Inferno Match is a 1v1 match where both contestants fight in a ring, lit on fire. To win, you must stoke the flames using high-impact moves, and once they're hot enough, drag your opponent over the flames to set them on fire.
The I Quit Match is a 1v1 match where the only way is to force your opponent to say "I quit". To do so, you must beat and wear them by any means necessary, whether they be submission holds or weapons.
The Dumpster Match is similar to the classic 1v1 Casket Match. To win this 1v1 match, you must toss your opponent into a dumpster and shut the lid on them to win.
Finally, we have the Three Stages of Hell. This is a gauntlet 1v1 match where a wrestler must win two out of three matches to achieve victory. What makes this match type brutal is that the player can set any match type they want for each round.
For example, the first round can be a straightforward wrestling match, the second round can be a No DQ match, and the third round can be a Hell in a Cell match if a player desires.

These include reduced invisible barriers and ledges so players can more freely interact with the environment, and more realistic reactions to falling off ledges, getting slammed on objects like steel steps and tables, and being hit by props now have a higher chance of triggering blood loss.

Other gameplay additions include being able to use Title Belts as weapons during championship matches, more battle interactions on barricades, and revamped reversals with improved feedback to provide players more strategy and better tells on reversal windows.
WWE 2K26 will also provide new weapons to use during matches, such as shopping carts and thumbtacks, and the ability to stack two tables on top of each other for extra damage when slamming opponents through them.

Playing to the crowd.Offering your opponent a handshake.Engaging in chain wrestling.Trading blows.Launching a sneak attack. The video game then reveals that customization for the AI behavior of opponents has been improved with new attack sequences and special moves that can be customized with.
Also, Wade Barrett and Booker T will be a part of WWE 2K26's color commentary team, and players will now have more interaction options during a WWE Superstar's entrance.
These options include new gestures, taunts, and pyro moments that can be triggered anytime at the player's discretion.
Will you be able to make your opponent say "I quit"? (Image credit: 2K)And that just about covers WWE 2K26's first gameplay overview trailer. I say 'first' because 2K has confirmed in its WWE 2K26 Ringside Report that there will be more gameplay overviews to come in the near future.
So stay tuned for more info, as we will continue the rest of WWE 2K26's gameplay overview trailers leading up to the game's release on March 13, 2026 (or March 6, 2026, via early access) for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Windows and Steam.
