Midlands Regional Hospital PortlaoiseGardaí are investigating a serious assault in Carlow that left two men injured in the early hours of bank holiday Monday.Carlow gardaí say they received report of an alleged incident of assault that happened in Carlow Town in the early hours of Monday, February 2.A man aged in his 50s was brought to Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise for treatment of injuries that have been described as serious.A second man, who is aged in his 20s, is also reported to have received injuries during the alleged incident.In a statement to the Irish Independent, a garda spokesperson confirmed that enquiries into the alleged assault are ongoing at this time."Gardaí received report of an alleged incident of assault that occurred in Carlow Town, in the early hours of Monday, February 2, 2026,” said the spokesperson.
“A male (aged in his 50’s) attended Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise for treatment of serious injuries. A male (aged in his 20’s) is also reported to have received injuries.“No further information is available at this time. Enquiries ongoing.”
