Veteran rocker Rod Stewart goes back on the road... only this time in a caravan

Sir Rod Stewart brought a London street to a standstill by performing a surprise gig from inside a caravan.

The rock legend stunned passers-by by turning up unannounced on Denmark Street to sing some of his hits.

Hundreds of people gathered to take photographs as the 81-year-old sat in the caravan wearing a leather jacket and sang Maggie May and Ooh La La.

Sir Rod was launching his whisky brand Wolfie’s ‘Wild Ones Rock and Roll Tour’ which is supporting up-and-coming artists in the music industry.

Over the next 12 months, the Wolfie’s ‘red hot caravan’ will criss-cross the UK and into Europe with selected grassroots acts performing inside it at each stop.

The crooner said the vehicle was the ‘most ridiculous’ place he had ever performed.

He added: ‘Keeping our grassroots music scene alive isn’t just important, it’s essential if we want the next generation of great artists to exist at all.’

Acts performing on the caravan’s tour will be chosen for their ‘energy, attitude and authenticity, not polish or playlist appeal’.

As part of the tour, Wolfie’s is committing more than £10,000 directly into the industry, supporting independent artists and venues.

Sir Rod launched Wolfie’s, which is made on the banks of Loch Lomond, with businessman Duncan Frew in 2023.
