Daily Mail's 41 nominations at the Press Oscars

The exceptional quality of the Mail's journalism has been recognised once again with a staggering 41 nominations at The Press Awards – the newspaper industry's Oscars – including for the flagship titles of Daily and Sunday Newspaper of the Year.

Mail and Mail on Sunday journalists were picked out by judges in almost every major category. In some, they were utterly dominant.

All but one of the seven nominations for Feature Writer of the Year (tabloid) came from Mail writers, with nods for David Jones, Guy Adams, Ian Birrell, Jane Fryer, Richard Kay and Richard Pendlebury.

Five of the seven contenders for Columnist of the Year (tabloid) also came from the Mail with last year's winner Bryony Gordon nominated once again alongside Ian Birrell, Jenni Murray, Dominic Lawson and Liz Jones.

And the Mail's peerless duo of Alison Boshoff and Katie Hind – who revealed every twist and turn of the Beckham family feud – were picked out in the Showbiz Reporter of the Year category.

Katie Hind was also selected in the Interviewer category – an award she won last year – alongside esteemed writers Frances Hardy and Helen Carroll.

Mail titles also led the way at the front of the paper, with Chief Reporter Sam Greenhill and David Williams recognised for their exhaustive two-year investigation into the secret Afghan airlift which followed a disastrous MoD data leak which threatened the lives of thousands of Afghans.

Their award-winning exclusive is shortlisted for both Scoop and Investigation of the Year with Greenhill also earning a nomination for Political Journalist of the Year.

Competition comes largely from our sister title, with The Mail on Sunday's world-beating coverage of the Epstein scandal engulfing the Yorks nominated for both Scoop and Investigation of the Year.

Acclaimed reporter Stephen Wright's investigation into the wrongful conviction of the Beast of Birkenhead gained a nod in the Investigation category. That was joined by the Mail's chart-topping Pipeline series – also nominated for Podcast of the Year.

Wright's outstanding work secured him further nods in the Specialist category and for News Reporter of the Year, alongside The Mail on Sunday's Mark Hookham.

The Mail on Sunday left rivals trailing in its wake in the Front Page of the Year category, taking three of the shortlisted spots for hard-hitting takes on the Andrew scandal, free speech, and immigration.

Other nominated journalists included MailSport's Ian Herbert and Riath Al-Samarrai, pocket cartoonist Jonathan Pugh, and The Mail on Sunday's young journalists Daisy Graham-Brown and Luke Chafer.

Completing the set were nods for the Mail's unmissable Femail Magazine and, in the Audience Engagement category, for the innovative Deep Dive data series and Frontline, which reports directly from the Ukraine war.

The winners will be revealed at a glittering ceremony in London on May 21.
