Stunning north London family home goes on sale for £1.5million - but there's a catch

In most of the country you would expect to get at least a four-bed house if you handed over £1.5million.

But in highly sought-after north-west London, that money may not stretch as far.

Now though, you can get a fully detached four-bed house for £1.5million near one of London's richest neighbourhoods – Hampstead – but there's just one catch.

It's completely hollow.

Photos of the property show it is merely the foundations of a house. Some of the exterior walls are missing and there appears to be no staircase.

There is also exposed brickwork throughout most of the house.

Estate agency Moreland said that this was 'more than a refurbishment; it is a full-scale rebuild'.

It also claimed: 'This site offers unparalleled potential for capital growth.'

One benefit of the house, according to the estate agent, is that the property already has planning permission to expand.

This would significantly shorten the timeline for construction to begin.

Current planning permission allows for a single-storey rear extension along with a new bay window to maximise space and light.

The new owner could replace all of the existing single-glazed timber windows with double-glazed timber frames and make alterations to the roof that include a conservation-style roof light on the side elevation.

The soft landscaping – for example the grass, hedges, trees or flower beds – can be changed without further planning permission and the new owner could replace the current outbuilding.

The estate agent said that 'once completed', the house could become a 'high-specification' four-bedroom, three-bathroom house.

The house is on Temple Fortune Lane in Golders Green – close to the nearby high street and the Hampstead Heath Extension.

Estate agent Moreland said it was located 'moments' from transport links into central London but it is still a 16-minute walk to the nearest tube station.

A spokesman for Moreland said: 'Once completed, the design facilitates a modern, high-specification four-bedroom, three-bathroom layout – a configuration highly desirable for the local family market.

'This is more than a refurbishment; it is a full-scale rebuild that allows for complete control over the final design, fixtures, and fittings.

'This site offers unparalleled potential for capital growth.'
