Tradies working in regional Victoria have discovered human remains.
Police were called to the worksite in Echuca after bones were found in Victoria Park, which is undergoing a $13.3 million upgrade, on Friday.
'The bones have since by assessed and determined they are human remains,' police said in a statement.
'A crime scene has been established, and the Echuca crime investigation unit are making enquiries into the matter.
'The bones will undergo forensic testing and, at this stage, the circumstances surrounding the death of the person are yet to be determined.
'This includes whether the matter is suspicious.'
Work on Victoria Park began in October and Campaspe Shire Council confirmed it would continue in areas away from where the remains were found.
'We need to deal with what's been found, sensitively and respectfully. When we have more information, we'll be able to assess likely impacts on the development project,' Director of communities for Campaspe Shire, Jo Bradshaw, told the ABC.

The coroner has been notified.
