Games We Play is back with a bang, and a song that continues his streak of making existentialism feel effortless catchy.
The song is called ‘Is This What I’m Made Of?’ and it finds Emmyn reeling off all of the things that make him who he is, even if he isn’t happy about what is coming out. From relationships to friendships, doubts and fears, it’s all here. The fact that such an emotional unravelling is paired with such a wonderfully upbeat soundtrack, a mesh of folky pop and pop-punk with plenty of horns thrown in for good measure, is a perfect juxtaposition, a reminder that all of these feelings are conjured simply because he is doing what he was born to do.
The result is as quintessential as it gets for Games We Play. Relatable, infectious and brimming with self-deprecating brilliance, it’s a surefire hit.
Here we go, get stuck in.
