Owning a classic car comes with plenty of challenges, but none are more frustrating than issues with sourcing quality parts. The aftermarket does a great job keeping Ford Mustangs, Mazda Miatas, and even Porsche 911s alive, but not everyone is so lucky. Well, Honda’s internal Heritage Works department is finally gearing up to answer the call for its Acura sports car owners, with the automaker now announcing a new line of genuine parts for the first-generation NSX for sale at dealers across the United States.
Considering this year marks the 40th anniversary of Acura’s debut, it makes sense that Honda is feeling a little bit nostalgic. The first-gen NSX might not be the earliest machine to don the pointed badge, but it is certainly the most iconic. As such, the brand has opted to celebrate with the launch of Honda Heritage Parts, which aims to provide customers with the difficult-to-source parts they’ve been clamoring for.
The program itself is split into two categories, with Genuine Honda Reproduction Parts featuring original material usage and production methods that match the original hardware. The Honda Compatible Parts line, on the other hand, will see parts reproduced by selected suppliers in more modern methods to meet demand for unavailable components.

“In this 40th anniversary year of the Acura brand, the launch of Honda Heritage Parts is especially meaningful, giving Acura enthusiasts the support they need to continue enjoying their first-generation Acura NSX,” said Steven Bailey, vice president of Honda and Acura Parts, Service and Technical Division. “At its core, the new Honda Heritage Parts program honors our shared passion for these iconic vehicles and helps ensure they can be enjoyed by future generations.”
Honda hasn’t specified exactly which parts are going to hit the offer sheet later this year, but we can make some educated guesses based on other automaker’s programs. Trim pieces are always a difficult item to source, as are rather mundane rubber bits and seals. Items like lower valances also tend to take a beating from road use, and could also find their way to the order sheet.

We shouldn’t have to wait much longer for all the details however, as Honda plans to spill the beans on availability and pricing before the parts hit dealer showrooms this summer. And while the project is currently limited to the NSX, Honda did acknowledge that it is investigating expanding this program to other historic models. That means owners need to buy these parts ... so we can convince Honda to build new Integra Type R and S2000 parts.
