Honda 50 saves the day for orchestra
Sir, – Further to your many letters in praise of the Honda 50, my experience was a Honda 50 saving a recording day for the Radio Éireann Light Orchestra. The home of the Light Orchestra in the 1970s was at the O’Connell Hall, Upper O’Connell Street, before the move to the new studio in Donnybrook. One morning, our conductor was unable to attend and our manager told us all to take a break. He went off on his Honda 50 and returned not long afterwards speeding up O’Connell Street with a conductor on the pillion, bumped up on the path and drove straight in the hall door.
