Welcome back to the strange, unearthly world of Susie Cave. For those less familiar, the English fashion designer, entrepreneur, and former model has long moved through the fashion scene in shifting, almost mythic forms: first as a teenage model discovered at 14 and drawn into the rarefied orbit of Yves Saint Laurent and Vivienne Westwood, and later as the co-founder of The Vampire's Wife, a cult label whose ruffled, gothic-leaning dresses became a fixture on red carpets and, improbably, royalty.
Now, two years after the brand’s closure, she returns with something more inward-facing: an appointment-only space in Kensington, titled Susie Cave, Weddings and Funerals. Here's what you need to know.
What is the new collection like?
There is, of course, a familiarity here. The silhouettes of her new line carry echoes of her past work – particularly that signature sense of gothic romanticism and disciplined drama. But this new chapter arguably feels more restrained; less tethered to traditional fashion cycles and their demands.
Cave has spoken of a desire to return “to the very basics,” stepping outside the industry’s appetite for constant production and focusing instead on pieces she feels personally accountable to. The first collection begins in black and white but aren't strictly bridal or mourning garments – despite the name. Cave has crafted a spectrum of garments from abbreviated mini dresses to more elaborate, almost spectral constructions. With just 25 silhouettes at launch, all custom-tailored and open to personalisation, the emphasis remains on intimacy rather than reach.
Where can I buy it?
Pieces from Susie Cave, Weddings and Funerals line will be available exclusively through private appointments at the brand's new space.
Where is the space?
The shop will open in mid-to-late May 2026 on Kensington Church Walk in London, tucked into one of the city’s more historically textured streets. The location aligns with Cave’s – discreet, atmospheric, and slightly removed from the industry’s usual circuits. The shop itself is conceived as an experience rather than a retail space, and visitors are asked to arrive by appointment only.
Further details, including bookings and updates, can be found via her official website and Instagram. Appointments can be made by emailing [email protected].
