Two officers from An Garda Síochána had to be treated in hospital after reportedly being assaulted during a call out in Letterkenny, County Donegal on Thursday afternoon.
Gardaí said they received a call to attend a premises on Neil T. Blaney Road, Letterkenny, on Thursday, April 23 at approximately 3:00pm.
A spokesperson said: “Two Gardaí attended the scene and were assaulted by a male (aged in his 30s).
"Gardaí arrested the male and a female aged in her 30s, who were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 in a Garda Station in the Donegal Division.
Gardai."The two male Gardaí received treatment in hospital for injuries sustained during the incident and have since been discharged."
The spokesperson said that An Garda Síochána is providing peer support to the injured Gardaí.
"The male remains in custody at this time. The female has since been released and charged in connection with this investigation. She is due to appear before Letterkenny District Court on Monday, May 11 2026.
"Investigations are ongoing.”
