Inside the White House State Banquet for King Charles and Queen Camilla
King Charles used his speech at the White House state banquet to reflect on the long and sometimes complicated relationship between Britain and America.
Speaking at the dinner hosted by President Donald Trump and the First Lady, the King recalled Queen Elizabeth II’s 1957 visit to the United States, saying one of her tasks had been to help put the “special” back into the special relationship after a crisis in the Middle East.
The King and Queen were guests of honour at the White House banquet, with guests including Rory McIlroy, Jeff Bezos, Tim Cook, Marco Rubio, Yvette Cooper, Pete Hegseth and General Dan Caine.
The evening included a formal dinner menu featuring garden herb velouté, spring herb ravioli, dover sole meunière and a beehive-shaped chocolate gâteau made with White House honey.
