Ahead of the highly anticipated launch of the new H&M collaboration collection with Stella McCartney on 7 May, the Swedish fashion retailer held a star-studded launch event in New York last night.
It brought together "a global community of creatives and friends", including DJ Mark Ronson, who performed a live set, Reneé Rapp, who also stars in the new collaboration’s campaign, Lila Moss, Yasmin Wijnaldum, Janelle Monáe, Amelia Gray and Charlotte Lawrence.
Held at a venue in Chelsea, Manhattan, which was transformed into a "high-energy club night reinterpreted through the lens of fashion", there was also a live performance by Dave.
Blurring the lines between runway and nightclub, models moved through the space wearing the collection, merging with guests before stepping onto the stage and unveiling key looks; from sharp tailoring and refined shirting to statement eveningwear and archive-inspired silhouettes, each crafted from certified and recycled fibres, alongside innovative alternatives to conventional fabrics.
Reuniting over 20 years after their first collaboration in 2005, the partnership signals an evolution of the H&M designer collaboration model - extending beyond product to platform.
At its core is "a commitment to collective impact", fostering open conversation through initiatives such as the newly established Insights Board, which brings together diverse voices to explore the future of fashion.
Stella McCartney said: "Reworking pieces from my archive brought back so much energy and joy. Celebrating that here in New York, surrounded by friends and collaborators, feels like a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come on sustainability in our industry - and to stay honest about how far we still have to go, together."
Ann-Sofie Johansson, Head of Design & Creative Advisor at H&M, added: "Celebrating Stella’s return to H&M in New York was a special moment for us. The energy of the evening captured the spirit of this boundary-pushing collaboration - creative, confident and forward-thinking - bringing together fashion, music and community in a way that feels both relevant and meaningful today."
