Authorities in border districts including Siaha and Lunglei have banned or limited the movement of petrol and diesel across the border, citing supply uncertainty and the need to protect domestic availability.

Officials say the curbs also aim to prevent illegal cross-border trade and hoarding, as rising global energy volatility impacts fuel supply chains. Bulk purchases have been restricted, and strict monitoring has been put in place at fuel stations.
