Victoria police have shot dead fugitive Dezi Freeman at the property in the state’s north-east.
The self-proclaimed sovereign citizen spent six months on the run after killing two police officers in Porepunkah and subsequently fleeing into bushland at Mount Buffalo National Park.
Victoria Police’s Chief Commissioner Mike Bush says a person believed to be Dezi Freeman was given a chance to cooperate peacefully during a three-hour standoff but rejected the offer.
