The Palestinian American comedian, who was honored the previous year for creating the sitcom “Mo,” was speaking at the awards ceremony in Los Angeles. ⁣

Bisan accepted one of the highest honors in broadcasting by video from a refugee camp in occupied Gaza. She has been chronicling Israel’s war on Gaza since Oct. 7, and before that created social videos showing Gaza’s beauty and culture. ⁣

The Palestinian filmmaker is in her 20s, and was one of the youngest people to accept an award at this year’s ceremony. ⁣

The Peabody Jury paid tribute to Bisan for “showing bravery and persistence in the midst of imminent danger and for carrying a heavy journalistic burden as the entire world looks on.” ⁣
