Victim of horrific Easter Sunday scrambler crash named as young dad-of-one
The victim of a horrific Easter Sunday scrambler bike crash has been named as 18-year-old Jason Monks. Father-of-one Jason died when the scrambler motorbike he was riding on collided with a car at Citywest at around 8pm on Sunday. Since then his heartbroken mother and partner have led dozens of tributes on social media - while a Gofundme account has been set up for the devastated family. “My beautiful baby boy. How is my life ever going to be the same ever again? 18 years of loving you, the best 18 years of my life. I will love you always my beautiful boy,” mum Donna posted on Facebook. His partner Shannon meanwhile posted a photo of the tragic father holding their baby girl and wrote: “Wish this was all a bad dream.” Meanwhile Shannon’s grandfather Mark posted several pictures of Jason on social media and said: “Our Granddaughter Shannon lost her partner and our great Granddaughter lost her Dad Jason Monks last night. We are heartbroken for them and Jason's family. “A lovely young man with the biggest heart, and a smile and laugh that would cheer you up in the worst of days. A person who would do anything to help anyone who needed it. We are heartbroken but also smiling when we see the things people have up in Facebook and videos which will help in the coming time. We are all going to miss you. Rip our friend, our family. Keep an eye on us all from up there in the clouds.” Local Independent councillor Dermot Richardson said: "The community is in shock from the death of such a young person. My condolences to all his family." A Gofundme has since been set up and shared by Jason’s friends online. In a message on the fundraiser a pal wrote: “Please donate to help us give Jason the send off he deserves. Everyone knows how Jason would have helped anyone he was the most kind hearted loving person. Always fixing everything for everyone, always there to lend a hand. So please do the same for him.” Gardai say they are investigating the single road traffic collision and have appealed for any witnesses or anyone with relevant footage to come forward. In a press release issued on Monday morning gardai said: “Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision that occurred at Citywest, Dublin 24 yesterday, Sunday 20th April 2025.
