Yangwang, a sub-brand of BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY), has reached its 10,000th delivery, marking a milestone for a local Chinese ultra-luxury brand.
Yangwang announced on Weibo today that it delivered its 10,000th vehicle to Yu Minhong, founder of Chinese education group New Oriental.
Yu, a longtime BYD car owner, took delivery of a BYD Han EV in December 2020, when BYD's chairman and president Wang Chuanfu personally delivered the vehicle to him.
The New Oriental founder got a Yangwang U8 off-road SUV (sport utility vehicle), which was delivered to him by Yangwang's head of sales, Hu Xiaoqing.
Yangwang is BYD's ultra-luxury brand launched on January 5, 2023, to target a market with prices in the RMB 1 million ($137,210) class.
The U8, Yangwang's first model, was launched on September 20, 2023, with a starting price of RMB 1.098 million.
On February 25, 2024, Yangwang launched its second model, the U9, a two-seater electric supercar with a starting price of RMB 1.68 million.
In March, Yangwang launched a new model, the U7 sedan, with a starting price of RMB 628,000 yuan.
Last week, Yangwang shared two images of the U8L, the first mention of the new model.
Yangwang said the U8L would be unveiled at the 2025 Shanghai auto show. It didn't share any more information about the car, but hinted that the model would be big.
Yangwang's current models are based on its exclusive e4 technology, powered by four electric motors with more than 1,000 horsepower.
Yangwang delivered 133 vehicles in March, including 93 U8s as well as 12 U9s, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
At the end of March, Yangwang's cumulative deliveries since deliveries began in November 2023 stood at 9,979 vehicles.

Yangwang has shared two images of the U8L and hinted that the new model will be longer than the U8.
