Mícheál O’Keeffe appointed as Director of Policy and International with the Central Bank

The Central Bank of Ireland has appointed Mícheál O’Keeffe as Director of Policy and International. As Director, O’Keeffe will be a member of the Central Bank’s Senior Leadership Team and will be responsible for leading the development of financial regulation domestically and internationally. O’Keeffe currently works as Senior Advisor to Minister Paschal Donohoe in his role as President of the Eurogroup. He previously worked as Chief of Staff and Counsellor to the Governor at the Central Bank of Ireland and Senior Advisor to the Deputy Governor - Monetary and Financial Stability. O’Keeffe began his career at the European Central Bank where he worked as both an Economist and Supervisor. He holds a B.A from University College Dublin, an MPhil from the University of Cambridge, an M.Sc., M.Res and PhD from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Announcing the appointment, Governor Gabriel Makhlouf said: “I am delighted to announce the appointment of Mícheál to the role of Director of Policy and International. “Along with his background in economics, supervision and policy, and his prior leadership role in the Central Bank as Chief of Staff, Mícheál brings with him a wealth of international experience, most notably in Brussels and Frankfurt.
