Flight attendant shares grim reason you should check hotel room item
A seasoned flight attendant has lifted the lid on a hotel room hazard that could put a damper on your next stay. Barbara Bacilieri, an Argentinian air hostess with plenty of hotel experience under her belt, has taken to TikTok to spill the beans on a seemingly innocent item – the kettle in your room. Barbara's advice to her followers is crystal clear: ALWAYS have a gander inside the kettle before using it. She cautioned: "Always take a look inside the coffee pot. Before boiling water for making tea or coffee, think it through." The revelation from Barbara has left many gobsmacked as she detailed how previous guests have misused kettles for everything from rinsing underwear and cooking sausages to cleaning menstrual cups! So, when you're getting cosy in your hotel digs, remember to give that kettle a good boil and rinse before you sip on your cuppa. Barbara quipped: "You weren't expecting this one, right? Just imagine how many other things guests do and we don't know." Barbara doesn't stop at just the kettle; she also urges travellers to give the bed a thorough check. Despite looking pristine, you can never be too sure, reports the Mirror. Her tip: "Before getting into bed, lift the sheets. Check for bugs or socks that other guests may have left behind." The cabin crew member shared her amazement at the extreme measures some hotel guests take to swipe items from their rooms, and it's not limited to the odd mini shampoo bottle. "Some people believe that everything in the room is up for grabs, or they feel entitled because they've paid a hefty sum," she said. "Items like the batteries from the remote control or even worse, the light bulbs." Yet, she clarified during her video that while tea, coffee and sugar are there for the taking, guests should certainly draw the line at mugs and pillows. "You wouldn't believe how many guests nick the hotel pillows." And what about nabbing hotel towels? "Loads of people have them at home." Barbara wrapped up with a cheeky tip, recommending travellers to have a gander inside the hotel safe – who knows, you might hit the jackpot if "the previous guest forgot their millions."
