How to open the Temple Entrance door in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond's Temple Entrance door is a bit confusing if you're not looking literally all over the room for details. The puzzle's first part is comparatively straightforward, but the second is hidden, and the third easy to overlook. However, it's good practice for the way Prime 4 handles other puzzles, and it teaches you a visual cue for which of Samus' powers to use in similar situations.

Below, we explain how to open the Temple Entrance door in Metroid Prime 4 and what you should take away from that for future puzzles.

When you first arrive in the Temple Entrance chamber, you'll see a statue with two psychic mote sockets, an open psychic receptacle to the left, and some rubbish on the right. Activate the scan visor and check out the room if you want to see all the log info scattered around, though none of it here counts toward 100% completion.

Scan the psychic receptacle on the left to activate it and open the shutter. Then, with the scan visor still active, grab the mote that appears, and slot it into the statue. On the right side of the ramp, fire a missile at the clutter to reveal another psychic receptacle. Repeat the process here — scan the nodule to open the shutter, and then move the newly revealed mote to the statue's second slot.

The statue will explode and reveal the Control Beam, an upgrade for the charge beam. When the scan visor is active, power a charge beam shot and let it loose. You'll take control of the beam and can guide it where you want it to go.

In this case, where you want it to go is through the big hole at the top of the door. At the back of the opening is a pressure plate that responds to psychic energy, which is just a fancy way of saying "a switch that unlocks the door." Once the beam connects with the plate, you can carry on with your adventure.
