Venezuelan opposition politician Maria Corina Machado has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize – despite not making the ceremony in Oslo.
The pro-democracy campaigner, who’s been in hiding after a crackdown by President Nicholas’ Maduro’s government, made it out of Venezuela, but her top-secret travel plans let her down.
Maria Corina Machado’s daughter Ana accepted the award on her behalf. But her win, which she dedicated to President Trump, has not been without controversy.
