Border Patrol agent and protester shock onlookers with surprising gesture during standoff in Minnesota as tensions intensify

A border patrol agent and a protester shared a moment of kindness amongst the political unrest in Minneapolis after the deadly shooting of Renee Nicole Good

An unidentified federal agent and a woman stood nearly chest-to-chest as protests continue to intensify across the Twin Cities after Good's death on Wednesday.

However, instead of yelling in each other's faces and pushing back, the pair shared a civilized conversation about their history of being veterans, a video captured by Brenden Gutenschwager showed.

'If you had been a Marine, I would have brought you some cookies and crayons,' the woman, who was wearing a veteran pin on her crocheted hat, joked with the masked officer, who could be seen smiling and laughing.

She was referring to the inside joke that Marines eat crayons, a good-natured jest picking at the stereotype that those joining that branch are all about brute strength rather than excelling academically.

'I love you,' the agent said, while bent over laughing. 'I want to hug you.'

'We can't do that,' the woman sweetly replied.

'I mean, I could,' the agent replied.

'I would let you,' she said, to which he said: 'I don't mind.'

'You can hug me,' she said, gesturing toward herself. 'I would embrace it. You would hug me.'

The agent unstuffed his hands from behind his bulletproof vest, where he was keeping them warm, and stepped toward her, saying: 'Alright, come over.'

The man wrapped his arms around the woman, who kept her hands outstretch to avoid any conflict and avoided moving from the picket line, as they were told not too.

'We have a heart,' the agent replied afterward.

She encouraged him to take off his gear and come to the protesters' side. He replied with a hearty laugh as they smiled at each other.

Both of them were veterans from Puerto Rico, according to Gutenschwager.

Good's shooting by an ICE agent on Wednesday saw protests continue across the US on Friday night - including in Minneapolis, which was swarmed with horn-blowing, window shattering demonstrators.

They drummed in defiance and blew whistles and trumpets before police eventually showed up around 10.30pm local time and arrested 14 people.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey defiantly told ICE to 'get the f**k out of Minneapolis' after the Wednesday shooting.

On Friday, he dismissed the new footage that emerged from the moments before ICE agent Jonathan Ross fatally shot Good.

He said it did not change his perspective on the shooting.

Crystal-clear clips, filmed from the ICE agent's perspective, showed Good speaking from her Honda Pilot before she accelerated and was killed in front of her wife.

'He walked away with a hop in his step from the incident,' Frey said of Ross, 43.

On Saturday, Minnesota Representatives Ilhan Omar, and Angie Craig and Kelly Morrison were denied access to an ICE detention facility.

Omar and the other representatives said the visit was part of an oversight visit and that they were invited by invited former acting director, The Minnesota Star Tribune said.

'We were initially invited in to do our Congressional oversight and to exercise our Article I duties,' Omar said.

'Shortly after we were let in, two officials came in and said they received a message that we were no longer allowed to be in the building and that they were rescinding our invitation and denying any further access to the building.'

While inside, Omar said the trio saw around 20 people being detained, The Star Tribune reported.

On Wednesday, Omar sod: 'I am beyond outraged that their reckless, callous actions led to the killing of a legal observer in Minneapolis.

'My heart breaks for the victim’s family, who will have to forever live with the pain caused by the Trump Administration's reckless and deadly actions.'

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem claimed Good's actions were an 'act of domestic terrorism' as the federal agency insisted the mother's death was a cause of the agent Ross acting in self defense.

However, many lawmakers have disregarded this narrative, with Frey calling it 'bulls**t.'
